Hello and good morning, everyone. In Seattle, it is sunny and a bit cold. It is so exciting that in nine (9) days it is “Thanksgiving Day”, that is one of my favorite holidays each year. Of course, I love all our holidays, but Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays. Elise and I invite many of our great friends to come over to our house for dinner to celebrate Thanksgiving for a lot of the last several years…!

Now, I will tell all of you about my Thanksgiving Day last year. Earlier that day, Elise and I, and our three daughters Aden, Causey, and Ella did a {walking/running} event down at Magnuson Park called the “Turkey trot”. And Jeni, a great friend of mine, joined us on this event and she helped me “dress up” with “turkey gear” to do this. That included a sticker on my shirt and “turkey looking feathers” on my helmet for riding my three wheeled bike around the “trail of the event”. Jeni and I did two laps of this trail, which was challenging for me, but amazingly awesome for me and all of us, for sure…! Our plan is to do this same event this year as well. And I am trying to “recruit” another one who participates in the event, whose name is Krista. And I am also trying to recruit Janet to participate in this event as well…! For both: 😊😊

In the afternoon, my family watched the movie called “Elf”, which is what we do every year on Thanksgiving…! And it is awesome that “Papa Elf’s” grandson was in our youngest daughter Ella’s class, and he was at a school “Spring Tea” one year. One of my favorite scenes in the movie is when Buddy walks into a coffee shop and he says “Congratulations! World’s best coffee cup of coffee! It’s great to be here!”..,Ha! Ha!  I still love this scene and I laugh every time I think about this movie.

Last year, our oven was broken, so we had to cook the turkey using our grill on our deck. In fact, we cooked two turkeys because of how many of our great friends came over. It is really funny because the grill caught on fire and the turkeys became charbroiled…! 🦃🦃

At dinner time, Elise and I had 19 people over to our house to enjoy our Thanksgiving meal.! This number of people includes my sister Sabrina. And the five of us:  Elise and I plus our three daughters: Aden, Causey, and Ella. And the four of the Parsons’s family. And the five of the Willis’s family. And the five of the O’Connor’s family.

After our dinner, the kids sat at their table in the living room: laughing, not on their phone-wondering to see. And all of the parents {Ha Ha} played a game called “Happy Family”..!

Thanksgiving is always my favorite holiday compared to other holidays, because it enables an entire family and some great friends to meet up in their house together as well…!

Those are great memories. I remember last year at Thanksgiving we were all saying how thankful we were of the progress you had made so far in your recovery. The amount of progress between then and NOW is remarkable – just amazing to see! A huge year, and one we can look forward to toasting next week!

I love Thanksgiving for the same reason you do, Jonathan – spending time with family. Because it’s so challenging for Maddy and JP to get back to Seattle during this holiday (because of air travel), they’ll be going to my brother’s in New Jersey for the second year, and I miss them already! I’d go to join them, but my mom isn’t quite healthy enough to travel, so we’ll take her with us up to Mt. Vernon and enjoy the day with Robert’s sister, brother-in-law, and two of their kids with their spouses and children. I’m looking forward to it, and will be thinking about you all as you ‘turkey trot’ through Magnuson Park. I hope you have tons of fun!!

Elf is one of my favorite Christmas movies too-so many funny parts. I also love that silly coffee shop scene.

Flaming turkey! Wow! Quite the memory. 🙂

I’m glad you got to spend the day with so many people who are close to your heart.
