Hello, every one of you & good morning today! On September 29th, my wife Elise & I flew down to Bend, Oregon. This rewarding trip was made so that I was able to participate in a phenomenal activity with the Oregon Adaptive Sports (OAS) foundation! The group of me & three other participants in my team ended up completing two different event programs up until Oregon 3rd. It’s amazing that the other three members of my team are all fully handicapped & they sit on wheelchairs 100% of the time, & they had the courage & desire to do this challenging OAS program & be happy to successfully complete it! OAS introduced the participants in this week-long event to our bicycles on a soccer field to get all of us informed about the proper way to ride them safely. On both Wednesday & Friday, we all rode our bicycles over some mountain trails which provided awesome opportunities for us to ride over some challenging routes of the trails. The three-wheeled bicycle that I used via OAS had two large tires attached to the front side of the bicycle. This bicycle added even more challenging effort to achieve the exercise on the trails. We all had to go in between two trees that were closely connected & also ride up, & down, some very hilly areas on the trails. On Thursday, Elise & I went together on the other activity of OAS’s program, which is that we both rode on a kayak on a lake that was located far up near the mountains. It was an interesting Kayak rowing adventure because at the start of our tour of the lake area, I embarrassedly did a paddling error which caused Elise & me to fall into the cold lake water. Due to this taking place, two of the instructors of this event had to dive into the water to help us get back in the kayak safely. One of the instructors helped Elise & me to return to our big van to change our clothes & get warmer after getting so wet & cold from the lake water.
This fantastic experience has truly helped me on my recovery journey in so many ways, & I am certainly excited to participate in another OAS program. The next opportunity for me is to go skiing with some instructors. This activity is maybe going to make me a little worried about doing something that I haven’t done in more than 5 years ago, but that will be awesome to do this, for sure!
Overall, I suggest that you should check out OAS’s website!
